Dementia workshop
On 21 January 2008 TAFU held a workshop on dementia covering:
• Symptoms
• Causes, diagnosis, treatment and prevention
• Principles of caring for a person with dementia
• Behaviours
• Impact of dementia on families
The participants were given a copy of the WHO’s Help for Caregivers booklet, available at Alzheimer’s Disease International.
Ms Sylvia Ntegyereize, the Assistant Commissioner, Elderly and Disability in the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development closed the workshop and presented certificates to the participants.
Common Health Problems Among Older People Presentation
On Wednesday, 12 March 2008, TAFU organised for Robert Cumming, Professor of Epidemiology and Geriatric Medicine, University of Sydney, Australia, to give a presentation on “Common health problems among older people” at the Ministry for Gender, Labour and Social Development.
